The Overture Art & Literary Club is an after-school, bimonthly program designed for students who love the creative world of art and writing, and who want to broaden their knowledge and experience the excitement of online publication. Overture began at Miller Middle School in 2011, and Aaroshi Sahgal, formerly a student at Mission San Jose High School, started the first branch of the program at Hopkins in 2012.
This year, Hopkins is continuing to offer a place for all young artists and writers to learn more about their individual, unique styles, enhance those styles, and present their work to Hopkins. Through fun, interactive activities and peer editing workshops, the magazine's staff members will learn how to make their work more evocative and meaningful and continue to be inspired for future pieces. If you’re looking for help or inspiration in polishing that short story or poem, or if you want to make that sketch more powerful, or even if you want your hard work to reach an audience broader than your friends and family, Overture is the program for you!
Contact Ms. Parke or the MSJHS editors at hopkins.overture@gmail.com for further information.
See the locker below for an application! And check the calendar for our meeting dates. We meet twice a month, except in November and December, when we may only be able to meet just once a month given the holiday breaks.
